Treatment for afternoon delight

Working Title: Music Based Programming

Format: The editing technology we will use is obviously the radio room, and miriad the programme on the radio software. There will also be a webcam in the radio room so we can record the show and play it back.
Duration: The duration of the whole radio show will be 1hour long
Synopsis: We will be doing a 1hour radio show called Afternoon Delight and the theme is Children In need. We will be playing past children in need songs including the new song from 2010. We will be having small features and jingles that fit in with the show.

Style: The style we have chosen to do is light-hearted, funny and relaxed as it is an afternoon show so we know people will be listening to something that is relaxed and not too hardcore. Our narrative will be girley, loud and clear so that our listeners can enjoy listening to us.
Intended Audience: our intended audience is 15-24 year olds, most likely students who enjoy socialising, sports and Music.

Rationale: Our programme fits in well with Children in need because we have made it all about the audience and have included some light hearted features in there. We are also talking about some good and comical topics that relate to our audience. We have our playlist that fits in well with our intended audience.

Feasibility: We have spoken to Phill Middlham and have included a great feature for the programme which is an exclusive and will be broadcasted on the day we record our programme Live.

Budget: We didn’t need a budget for this project because we didn’t have to buy anything.

Deadline: Friday 5th November.

Analysis and research into other shows playlists

My task is to create an appropriate playlist for our target audience and make sure it is suitable for the time of day are show is broadcast at. To get a rough idea of this i shall have a look at similar radio shows at the same time of day, with a similar target audience and see what music they are playing.

Research into platforms

Ustream

First created in March 2007, Ustream.tv is a widely unknown website that consists of a large arrangement of various genred channels, providing an Internet platform for 'life casting' and live video streaming across the world. Today, the site has over 2,000,000 registered users who generate over 1.500,000 hours of freely available video content to be streamed live per month! The website normally gets around 10,000,000 unique hits per month, making the site a popular choice for big events, such as the 2008 US Presidential election. In this case, almost all of the major candidates used the site to aid their campaigns as this source of 'new media' has proved such a hit with the younger target voters. This enabled the voters to freely ask questions to the candidates that they may otherwise not have been able to ask.

The free availability of Ustream has one it several coveted awards, such as a 'Peoples choice award' and 'CNET webware 100' award.

RadioBOX

RadioBOX is a unique radio broadcasting platform that assembles most of the radio shows that are being broadcast across the Internet at one time into one place. This enables listeners to tune in worldwide to their station of choice with great ease. The many stations are categorised by their broadcasting country, or genre making them very easy to locate. Within the site they offer another free platform for the listener to use, this being an app for your iPhone. This brings an element of portability to the network, increasing the listening figures greatly.

RadioBOX recently started user submissions of radio stations, meaning that the database they use is increasing vastly on a daily
basis.
